The message a nominee receives may be what they remember about their awards. Treat anyone who didn't win as someone who was chosen to be on the list.
A person, not a post
Appointees should know from a person, not a public notice. Decide before the night how they will find out. Plan the message as part of the evening, not as a task for the next day.
Write like someone who signs
Choose a person to write to and sign with a real name. A message from an address that receives no response feels like a closed door. On a big night, share the work and keep one voice.
Read the message out loud before sending it. If it sounds cold out loud, it reads cold on the screen. Write it for those who expected to win and will read it more than once. Keep it short, sweet and clear about the outcome.
What's left out
Do not order the nominees or say who came second. Do not explain the merits through the jury's voice. Don’t send a template that says “not selected” without a word of thanks. Do not combine the news with a sales order.
Decide beforehand how you respond to a request for comment. If you give them, give them in writing and by the same person. Point out the published criteria. Wrong name, missing award recipient, contested decision explains why these criteria help.
Nominees in the room
At the gala, the nominees hear the results live. Ask the host to thank them calmly. A host rushing past them gives the wrong signal to the room. Warm words for the nominees also make the award recipient's moment more generous.
After the night
Thank you for your time and work. A nominee who feels respected may participate again and may speak highly of the awards.
The timing of the message is a decision
If the nominees and the award recipients live in two files, the message expects someone to bring them together. Notifications can leave the register at the time you choose: before the night, at the end, or after the thank you.
Eventblox® does not write the tone or signature. This is yours. What ceases to exist is the person forwarding a page at midnight. See Prepare.
Decide the channel. Keep the message short. Sign with a name. Give the host a phrase to thank the nominees.
Frequently asked questions
How do you tell a nominee they didn't win?
By a person, not a publication. The message is short, sweet and signed with a real name. Decide the time before night.
Should you give nominees feedback?
Decide first. If you do, give them in writing, by the same person, and point out the published criteria. Do not compare nominees.
